Terrain V01 - Journal - Page 51
With over sixty years behind us and an ambitious ten-year strategic plan
ahead of us, Sterling embarked on a journey in October 2020 that has resulted in an updated identity that is both timely and timeless. Moving forward,
this evolution will support the College in connecting learners to the Sterling
mission, will engage future generations in the growing kinds of experiences
that the College offers, honors our history, and reflects our vision for the
future. We have gratitude for the team of students, faculty, staff, trustees,
advisors, alumnx, partners, and community members who, in varying combinations, participated in over 50 meetings as our guides.
In recognition of Sterling’s history and as a means to differentiate us from
the institution by the same name in Kansas, the new logo is simply “Sterling”
which is inclusive of all that we have been: Sterling School, Sterling Institute,
and Sterling College. We have all been a part of Sterling.
Visit the Sterling Store!
Unlike traditional college swag, the Sterling College store has embarked on
a policy of supporting our alumnx family of makers when possible. You’ll see
pottery from Elizabeth (Kunkel) Martin ‘02, block prints from Renée Barry
‘16, and goat milk soaps from Sara Turnbull ‘11 and Steve Lester ‘11 as part
of this initiative.
Are you an artisan? Reach out to marketing@sterlingcollege.edu with your
ideas. We would love to feature your work.
For those products featured that are not handmade, we support domestic
manufacturing and ecological consciousness in our sourcing.
