Simpson Hall
Renovation
This fall, students and faculty are back in the recently completed renovation of the science lab
in Simpson Hall, now the Robert B. Annis Center for Ecology. Robert was a scientist, inventor,
and founder and president of the R.B. Annis Company. The R.B. Annis Educational Foundation,
established in his honor after Robert’s death, supports a variety of educational and cultural
initiatives and, along with a number of community donors, made the new lab possible.
To complement the renovation, The Canaday Family Charitable Trust has provided resources
for new lab equipment, an updated GIS lab in Simpson 5, and a research greenhouse which will
be added next year.
This resource complements the Rian Fried Center for Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems,
the nearly completed Strong Hall for Environmental Humanities, and the Outdoor Education
facilities that will be co-located at the Peter Alfond Wellness Center which is slated for construction once architectural drawings are in hand.
